SILVES WALK - 2 hours - 1 to 20 guests

The Beauty of Silves and a Taste of History!

Join me for a friendly walk through time and a visit of the beautiful medieval town where I live. Silves has a picturesque setting and an interesting story to tell us about past civilizations. Our walk gives an overview of the main sights, a taste of the little streets, and some hidden surprises.

We meet at the river and go up the hill to the castle. We pass the Roman bridge, the docks, the market, the town square, and the city walls. We will enter the cathedral for a brief visit (1.5€ entrance fee). We will also leave the trodden path to visit some of the back streets. There are some great places to eat and drink and I will show you one of my favourite hidden gems.

Our visit of Silves ends at the top of the town next to the castle. From here you can visit the castle by yourself or have an easy walk back down to the meeting point. You may also decide to have a meal or stay in Silves a little longer.

Please note that the above itinerary is a guideline and can be adapted (or shortened) to your needs. If you prefer an easier walk than I can drive you up to the castle and we will walk downhill from there. This tour can also be combined with some of the other activities that I offer, for example a Silves walk followed by a jeep safari or a river cruise (with a possible lunch in between).

Join a “Free” Scheduled Tour  – inscribe with Guru Walks

I also guide walks organised by “Guru Walks”.  The itinerary is exactly the same as described above. At the end of a Guru Walk  guests contribute what they want or what they can afford (or not pay at all). To participate you will need to inscribe on the website of Guru Walks but there is no online payment or exchange of financial  information. You are also free to cancel walks if you change your mind.

At the moment – in the summer – most of my Guru walks are scheduled on Tuesday,  Thursday and Saturday mornings at 9.30 AM, but always check the availabilty on Guru Walks. I sometimes remove availabilities for walks (which are not booked) when there are bookings for my other (jeep and boat) tours.
