Monchique Adventure

4 Hours (+options) – Max 5 guests

Take a half day – away from the coast – to explore the empty spaces of the interior. On our way to the Monchique we cross  a series of streams and follow a deep valley. Our destination is “Picota”, the second highest and most untouched of the Monchique summits. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy views over the whole Algarve. Our return to Silves follows a never ending maze of pathways with everchanging views.

For those who like to walk there are 2 optional hikes that can be added to the program. The first is a half hour walk over the hanging pedestrian bridge of Alferce. The second is a longer and steeper hike of an hour up to the Picota summit and back.  

Depending on the time of day you may also like to stop and enjoy a meal. I know two great restaurants to propose, alternatively you are welcome to bring a picnic with you.

We only do private tours (and do not sell individual tickets) so you will have the whole jeep to yourselves. The total price depends on the number of people in the group. It is basically calculated as 150€ for the jeep plus 25€ a person (or 8€ for kids).

Practical information

 

Bring comfortable clothes and walking shoes as well as sun and rain protection. Temperatures can cool rapidly in the hills (even sometimes on summer evenings) so bring an extra layer for warmth.
